Baby, I was born this way

I have approached the world like a consultant for as long as I can remember. Seriously.

I was the kid in elementary school that would tell you if your shoes were untied. I was the girl in class that would remind everyone about an upcoming quiz. I was the friend that would tell you the truth, whether you wanted to hear it or not. Yes, I can hold my tongue if I absolutely need to, but, if I think there is a better direction to take or an alternative way to do something, I will tell you.

This propensity to dish out advice, unsolicited or not, led to the logical decision to study law. After graduating from law school in 2008 and advising thousands of individuals as a bankruptcy attorney for nearly a decade, I took a break because I was jaded and I needed to regroup. Looking at contracts and arguing over the placement of a period was never my cup of tea. I wanted to do something different.

After much soul-searching, I networked my way into the role of Chief of Staff at the Turnaround Management Association (TMA). If you aren't familiar with the role, a chief of staff (COS) is the "behind-the-scenes leader" blending "sharp leadership and keen problem-solving skills, navigating the company maze with unwavering precision." (Thanks, Indeed!) The COS role was great for me because I could weigh in on improving every part of the organization, from hiring new team members, to streamlining the organization's tech stack. Chameleon skills times ten!

Fast forward through the pandemic, moving from Chicago to Florida, leaving TMA, establishing La Roca Consulting in 2023, and I have come full circle.

Today, through my consultancy, I apply expert research and analysis skills (lawyering), I weigh in on all aspects of organizational strategy and operations (chief of staff-ing), and, as a bonus, I leverage my marketing and tech know-how to satisfy my need for creative fun.

(Did I mention I have a degree in Advertising/PR and have been making websites since I was a teenager? I suppose this is a tale for another day.)

If you got this far, now you know my origin story. I hope this provides insight into how my superpowers can support your business journey.
